Are online lessons as successful as in person lessons?

Absolutely! I've been teaching an average of 30 students per week online since the beginning of the COVID-19 shut-down, and I decided to start offering them on a wider scale because they were so successful.

I'm able to see students and their instruments on Zoom, and I view their music either in another window on my screen or via physical copy of their lesson book. I haven't found the format to be limiting hardly at all - audio has been perfectly clear both ways and students are able to do theory writing exercises using just a paper and pencil. The lessons have been successful even with students as young as 6 years old!

Yes! I conduct two virtual recitals a year. All of my students join the same Zoom call and perform from all over the country! I even like to prepare a piece to play. It’s a great opportunity for my families to get to know each other and me a little better.

Another way I like to connect is by offering mail-order stickers and prizes for younger students. When they finish a level or complete a practice log goal, they can choose from a list of available prizes and get one in the mail within days!

Do you offer recitals?

What's the deal with the payment plan?

With lessons as my primary source of income, I rely heavily on consistency. If I have even a few students cancel in the same week on a per-lesson based payment system, it can have a significant effect. Monthly payments with occasional cancellations factored into the cost provide consistency for me and flexibility in cancellations and rescheduling for my students.

Can I pay via mailed check?

No, unfortunately. I require only online methods of payment because I've found mail to be too slow and unpredictable. In order to stay on top of the payments of 30+ students, I need to make sure I'm receiving the payment within a day or so of when it's sent.

Do you have experience teaching younger students?

I have plenty of experience with younger students! I’ve had an average of at least 2 or 3 five-year-old students on my schedule at all times with varied personalities. Though I have found online lessons to be effective for many younger students, I should clarify that it depends on the student and definitely isn’t for everyone. Attention span is important, and the best way to know if your child is suited to online lessons is to take a free trial. I will also say, however, that the 6-year-olds I’m teaching at the moment are doing remarkably well and look forward to their lessons every week!
